A Special Invitation
I was honoured to be invited by Jo Adams and Sam Griffin to speak at Thriving, a wonderful event held in Ashford, Kent to mark World Menopause Day 2025. The day brought together an inspiring line-up of expert speakers, each offering valuable insight into different aspects of menopause, from physical health and nutrition to emotional wellbeing and lifestyle support.
A Day of Shared Expertise
It was a privilege to be part of such a passionate group of professionals, all united by a shared goal, helping women not just to manage menopause, but to thrive through it. The atmosphere throughout the day was vibrant, supportive, and full of connection. A true celebration of women’s health and empowerment.
My Talk: Menopause and Mental Health
In my talk, I focused on menopause and mental health, exploring the emotional and psychological impact that hormonal changes can have during this transition. While the physical symptoms of menopause are often discussed, many women find that mood changes, anxiety, low self-esteem, and a sense of “losing themselves” can be even more challenging.
How Therapy Can Help
I shared how therapy can support women through this stage of life, offering a safe, compassionate space to explore emotions, make sense of changes, and rebuild confidence. Understanding what’s happening both in the body and the mind helps to reduce shame and isolation, allowing women to move through this time with greater self-awareness and self-compassion.
An Empowering Community
Hearing from so many experts and listening to the experiences shared by women in the audience was both humbling and heartening. There was a genuine sense of community and connection, a reminder that menopause can be reframed as a new chapter full of growth, wisdom, and possibility.
Gratitude and Reflection
I left the event feeling deeply grateful to Jo and Sam for creating such a meaningful space, and to everyone who attended for contributing to the open, honest conversations that help break the stigma around menopause.
Continuing the Conversation
If you attended Thriving and would like to continue exploring how therapy can support you during menopause, please feel free to get in touch. You don’t have to navigate this alone, support is available, and thriving not just surviving, truly is possible.
