Celebrating One Year of Michelle Jean Counselling in Ashford, Kent

This August marks one year since I officially launched Michelle Jean Counselling in Ashford, Kent, and what an incredible journey it has been. In that time, I’ve had the privilege of working with more than 60 clients and holding space for over 700 hours of counselling sessions. Each moment of connection has been a reminder of why I chose this path and why I  absolutely love the work I do.

Building a Counselling Practice in Ashford

When I first set out, I tried not to let self-doubt or other people’s doubts hold me back. The truth is, sometimes another person’s growth or success can bring things up for other. And That’s ok. What mattered was trusting the process, believing in the value of counselling, and allowing my practice to grow step by step.

In this first year, I have learnt that when you truly believe in something meaningful, you can create it. For anyone reading who is wondering whether to take that first step toward your own dream, my encouragement is simple: go for it!

Why I Chose Counselling

It’s important to mention that my journey into counselling didn’t start last year. Over a decade ago, I sat in the therapy chair myself for the first time. That experience changed my life and planted the seed for what would eventually become Michelle Jean Counselling.

I’ve been on the other side of the room, and I know what it feels like to be a client. To sit with vulnerability, to seek understanding, and to hope for change. That perspective continues to shape the way I work today, reminding me always to approach each person with compassion, patience, and respect. Human to Human.

Counselling in Ashford: The Power of Connection

In every session, I see the courage it takes to begin therapy. Whether clients come to counselling for self-esteem struggles, anxiety, life transitions, or simply a safe space to untangle their thoughts, it is always a privilege to walk alongside them.

Counselling is not about “fixing” someone or even changing someone. It’s about creating a space where healing and growth can happen. The most rewarding part of this past year has been witnessing clients rediscover their strength and move forward with new clarity.

Looking Ahead

As I celebrate and acknowledge this milestone, I feel immense gratitude for every single person who has trusted me with their story. This is only the beginning, and I look forward to many more years of offering counselling from my beautiful therapy space in Ashford, Kent.

If you’re considering starting counselling, to explore things on a deeper level gain clarity in your life, I would love to hear from you. Taking that first step can feel daunting, but it can also be the beginning of something life changing.

Here’s to another year of growth, healing, and connection. Thank you for being part of this journey with me.

Michelle 🤍
